CELEBRATING SUCCESS!
2025 was an incredible year for Move Lebo! We nearly doubled in size and we expanded our advocacy and community building efforts. One of our main initiatives of 2025 was the development of the Citizen Street Data Initiative (CSDI). CSDI utilizes a Telraam monitoring device to collect data - a device we were able to purchase thanks to the generosity of our contributing members. The intent of CSDI is to empower residents with the information they need to demand change on their own street. And yinz showed up!! Our pack the room advocacy efforts can be seen all around the community in the form of tons of newly painted stop bars and crosswalks. On December 9th we packed the room with over 15 residents, who talked for over an hour on the need for our leaders to prioritize pedestrian safety and begin to implement the Complete Streets Policy. Thank you for sharing your time and passion with us. This work couldn’t happen without YOU! We have all experienced better and we want better for our community. We understand there’s still so much work to do and the process is grueling… it’s one of the reasons that we focus on community building & social events like sidewalk cleanups, group bike rides, run club, happy hours & the just launched, Move Lebo Book Club. We want to have fun and build community with our fellow residents that share our passion and commitment for safer streets, designed for people. Help us kick off the start of a new year at our quarterly general meeting, January 11th, 10:30am @ Needle and Bean.

We were out and about in 2025! Our organization logged over 500+ volunteer hours! Events such as sidewalk cleanups, group led bike rides, neighborhood walk & talks, pack the room events, tabling, newsletters, map design, data collection, etc.

We are grateful to each of you for your support. We’ve nearly doubled our list of supporters and contributing members over the last year. We will continue to work hard to advocate and build our collective voice to bring safer streets, designed for people to Mt. Lebanon.
Contributing Members
Why a book club? Sometimes, we take our urban spaces for granted. We protect our green space but our cities can be an unique ecosystem that is just as complex and fascinating. This book club will explore our urban spaces and how we, as humans, interact with them. By learning about these interconnections, we hope to develop a greater appreciation for the previously mundane in our daily lives and learn how to make a more livable world, one step at a time.

HOLIDAY LIGHT BIKE RIDE
Spreading holiday cheer, we lit up the streets of Mt. Lebanon during our second annual holiday light bike ride. Our holiday hits could be heard throughout the streets along with some cheers of applause as we made our way through. The ride ended just as the snow began, adding a bit of holiday magic to the evening. A special thanks to Jen Mazzocco for joining us from Dormont - we look forward to future rides together across the border. And congrats to our winner, Margaret. She scored some sweet Move Lebo swag & a Needle and Bean gift card.
FRANCOIS STUDIES BOWER HILL
Our Telraam device, lovingly known as Francois, completed his study of Bower Hill. As part of our Citizen Street Data Initiative, we prepared the information below and shared with the residents that live in the area. Did you know that contributing members can request to host Francois? If you’re interested in hosting Francois at your house, let’s chat.

Francois completed his first official home visit on Duquesne Drive! A very special shout out to one of our members on Duquesne Drive, who is taking the initiative to make his street safer. We were able to gather a two week segment of traffic data. The results are posted below. You can also view the results on our Citizen Street Data Initiative page. PACK THE ROOM - allow elementary school kids to bike/scooter to school
November 10 @ 7:30pm | Mt. Lebanon School Board Meeting, Room D205, Mt. Lebanon High School, Entrance Door C20
Would you like your elementary school kid(s) to be able to bike/scooter to school? Currently, district policy prohibits elementary school kids from riding their bikes/scooters to school. While we know this isn’t a safe option for all families, it is a great option for some. Regardless, we believe the district should not mandate whether or not children can bike/scooter to school. In a district that does not provide bus service, parents should have full discretion on how their children get to and from school. The current bike/scooter policy is under review by the school board and is up for discussion at the November 10 meeting. Please come and “pack the room” in support of eliminating any age-based policy that restricts the use of bikes/scooters as a means to get to and from school. There is a public comment session during the meeting, pre-registration is not required.

Connected Car Workshop recap
Move Lebo and the Mt. Lebanon Police Department teamed up on Sunday, Oct. 12th to assist in setting up, trouble shooting, and demonstrating the capabilities of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Numerous residents took advantage to make their driving safer by learning to use simple voice commands. Tasks like navigation, calling, messaging, and even picking a new song are now a breeze while also being compliant with Pennsylvania's new hands-free law.

Holiday Light Ride
December 7th @ 6pm | Meet at the corner of Beverly & Overlook
The highly anticipated, don’t want to miss it, holiday light bike ride returns on Sunday, December 7th @ 6pm!* We supply the holiday hits & candy canes - you BYOBike & festive decorations! Join us on a leisurely ride through one of Mt. Lebanon's most beautiful neighborhoods, Virginia Manor to enjoy the sights & sounds of the holidays.
This event is free and open to all ages and bike types. A prize will be awarded to the person with the most festive bike! All participants must complete the RSVP/Waiver here.

It’s hard to believe it’s been ONE year since we officially became a 501(c)(3) organization! It’s been a fantastic year packed full of advocacy and fun! At our most recent quarterly General Meeting, we shared some of our accomplishments from the last year - check out our slideshow! Here’s a quick recap:

In case you missed it, Pennsylvania's law about mobile phone use while driving has changed. You can now be stopped for holding your phone while driving. This includes phone calls and using navigation. Even while stopped at a red light!
Apple Carplay and Android Auto can help you stay connected and follow PA's new hands-free law. Most cars on the road today have these useful tools.
Join the Mt. Lebanon Police Department and MoveLebo at the Connected Car Workshop for some quick how-to tips. There will be dedicated volunteers to help get your cars set up. Just bring your car, phone, and a cable to connect up. We'll have some extra on hand if needed.

GIANT MAPPING PROJECT
This is an exciting opportunity to provide feedback on the unsafe walking conditions in our community! As part of the Active Transportation Plan, there is a giant mapping project happening. Keep your eyes open for pop-up events around the community. In the meantime, provide your feedback here. Your participation in this event is critical in helping to make our streets safer!
Micromobility
…for the win!! Check out this recent article from Mt. Lebanon Magazine. Move Lebo is referenced as a resource that residents are using as they navigate the world of micromobility, in particular our map of safe biking routes is gaining popularity!
Street traffic analysis PROGRAM
Traffic too fast on your street? Wondering what you can do? We’re launching a Street Traffic Analysis Program.
Thanks to the support of our members, we were able to purchase a Telraam traffic monitoring device that we affectionately refer to as, Francois. It’s discreet and user-friendly and we’re hoping it will empower residents to make changes to their streets.
Members can request to borrow the Telraam device to collect their own data to support traffic calming petitions.

Pumpkin Patch Parade
Join Move Lebo and walk in the Pumpkin Patch Parade on Saturday, October 25th!
Costumes encouraged but not required! We’ll be handing out candy and spreading the love as we enjoy a car-free Washington Road. Bikes, onewheels, scooters, etc. bring them along! Lineup will start at 10:00 a.m. and take place in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, located at 509 Washington Road.

Week without Driving

The Week Without Driving was created so that those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face and work with nondrivers to create more accessible communities for all. Move Lebo is encouraging everyone to participate and experience what it’s like to navigate our community without the comfort of a car.

PARKING DAY recap
Move Lebo set up shop across from Lincoln Elementary School for Parking Day 2025. It was our first time participating in the global event. We had some positive discussions over coffee in the morning and took advantage of the great weather to do a little remote work. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it until the end of the school day because we were asked to leave by the parking authority. Regardless, it was fun to connect with our neighbors and advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people.
Vélo Couture Ride
We’ll leave you with these fun pics from our recent Velo Couture ride. Oui, oui, our Parisian inspired bike ride was a great success! We dressed our best and had a wonderful morning meandering some of the quiet streets of Mt. Lebanon.

Upcoming “Pack the room”
With school back in session, the work Move Lebo does is more important than ever. We are committed to safer streets, designed for people. One of our key focus areas over the upcoming weeks will be working with the Municipality on Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPIs). What does this mean? The short answer is safer walking conditions for kids (and adults)! Wanna deep dive? Check out NACTO.
LPIs give pedestrians a head start of 3–7 seconds when entering an intersection.
LPIs enhance the visibility of pedestrians in the intersection and reinforce their right-of-way over turning vehicles.
LPIs have been shown to significantly reduce pedestrian-vehicle collisions.
Cost to implement is relatively low compared to other options as LPIs utilize existing traffic lights.
LPIs in our community are inconsistent. Some intersections have none while others have 3 seconds. In PA, cars must stop, by law, for pedestrians in a crosswalk. However, pedestrians may not enter a crosswalk unless it is “safe to do so”. LPIs make it so that is is safe to cross the street and puts the liability on the driver.
We want the municipality to increase the LPI to 7 seconds at all lights within a 1/2 mile of a school. It may not seem like much but the next time you cross the road count to 7 and see how far you get. 7 second LPIs will ensure safer walking conditions for all residents, especially children. The best part - the Municipality has the power to make these changes.

Francois is joining us from the Telraam Family in Belgium.
Who is Francois? What is Telraam?
Francois is the name we gave to our first Telraam traffic monitoring device. It’s discreet and user-friendly.
Telraam is a citizen-powered solution for collecting multi-modal traffic data. Traffic data that can be used to design better streets. We envision using the data to support the need for traffic calming and road redesign. Move Lebo members can request to borrow the Telraam device to collect their own data to support traffic calming petitions. We plan to build our collection of devices to empower residents with the data to support traffic petitions.

Join us as we cleanup along Castle Shannon Blvd. in advance of the Anawanda Arts Festival. Come try out our NEW! litter grabber tools. We’ll supply the reflective vests, tools and trash bags but please bring your own gloves. A special shout-out to our sustaining members and donors who allow us to purchase supplies like these!

Vélo Couture Ride
Saturday, September 13th (Rain Date: Sunday, September 14th)
Meet at Mel’s Petit Cafe @ 8:30am
Celebrate bikes as transportation with a morning ride followed by crepes. Taking inspiration from Paris, wear your most fashionable bike friendly outfits on this slow-paced, 6-mile, sorta flat ride through the Willow Terrace and Cedarhurst neighborhoods. We'll start and end at Mel's Petit Cafe. The ride is open to all, but the route will not be closed to cars.

PARK(ING) DAY
Friday, September 19th
Popping up at the corner of Ralston & Beverly 8am - 4pm
Move Lebo will be popping up in support of Park(ing) Day to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people. We plan to set up ahead of school drop-off with coffee and donuts for families on their way to school. After the morning rush, we plan to replenish supplies throughout the day in order to accommodate remote workers that may want to get out of the house during the day. If the weather is nice, we’ll plan to hand out popsicles in the afternoon following the end of the school day. Stop by and say hello!
